The Fadlovich barn will be buzzing in the days ahead for HMDC and partners. Thistledown’s meet will be extended to make up for lost live days earlier in the meet, which tightened up the days for moving the stable to Mahoning Valley for training and opening day on October 20. We have three of our runners entered on Tuesday at Thistledown with stablemates matching strides in the 7th race. I Belong First (9-5) gets the edge on recent winner Over the Falls (9-2) by the oddsmaker. The $35,800 allowance race for Accredited-Breds will see all but one starter stretching out from 6 furlongs to a mile. In the following race, Commissioner D has been installed as slight favorite (5-2) while getting some welcome class relief in a $18,300 six panel test with a claiming tag of $7,500.

The action-packed week will end for HMDC and Taste of Victory Stables in the $75,000 Miss Southern Ohio Stakes at Belterra Park as Countess Colette takes to the turf for the first time. With races on the grass having limited opportunity for Accredited-Breds, this is a wide-open affair at 1 1/16 miles. Being inbred to Northern Dancer and Roberto should give grass credentials to our 4-year-old filly coming off her seasonal debut victory.
