About Our Mares

Our broodmare band numbering 40 plus, has been painstakingly assembled over the past 11 years. As you view our mares, we hope, you will appreciate our selection parameters we have relied upon. We feel very strongly that our criteria are of paramount importance in selecting mares that will produce winners.

 

Fundamentally in selection is the mare’s sire. Stallions such “Unbridled Song”, “Langfuhr”, and “Bernardini” are a few that are at the top of our list.

 

Inherently strong deep first and second extended families, producing multiple winners, is preponderant to our selection. We believe mares out of such families carry the necessary DNA to produce consistent winners.

 

Production is measured by the family’s consistency to produce winners. An occasional “winner” associated with multiple non winners or starters, we believe, is a formula for failure.

 

Winning race records of mares are very desirable, however, deep families, production and the broodmare sire, in our opinion, often will be of enough importance to offset mares whose racing career was less than stellar.

 

90% of out mares have Black Type in their first families and 95% of our mares have produced multiple winners.
