SPUN IN DOMINUS TO MAKE SEASONAL DEBUT IN $75,000SOUTHERN PARK STAKES ON THURSDAY

A good part of the HMDC philosophy is to breed Accredited Ohio-breds who have enough individual talent to take the step up to challenge Registered Buckeye-breds, thus doubling the options throughout the season for stakes competition. It appears that trainer Meaghan Fadlovich had the six-furlong $75,000 Southern Park circled on her calendar for the seasonal debut of Spun in Dominus, campaigned by HMDC, Taste of Victory and TBC Racing. Now a 3-year-old daughter of Dominus, her work pattern indicates a solid readiness for her first start of the year on Thursday. Of her six last published workouts, three were in February and she’s had two already in March. The pattern shows building blocks of mostly four furlong works, stretching to a bullet five-furlong effort on March 3 and a second-fastest three-furlong effort on the 13th. As a 2-year-old, Spun in Dominus made three starts improving her final time at every outing. After breaking her maiden at second asking, the Mapleton Farm bred miss closed out her juvenile season with a determined second after a troubled trip in the six-furlong $75,000 Emerald Necklace Stakes. She’ll need her running shoes on, as this is a deep field and one of the top threats was bred and sold by HMDC partner Steven Chumney of Smokin C LLC. Named Kontiki, the daughter of Midshipman was sold at Keeneland for $170,000 and she’s had her traveling shoes on ever since. Coming from the barn of Brad Cox, she’s made seven starts – at seven different tracks and was favored in all but her debut at Keeneland! Her resume includes wins in the $100,000 Miss Ohio and $75,000 Tah Dah Stakes as a juvenile. The Southern Park drew a field of nine in the fifth race with a 2:07 p.m. post. Spun in Dominus will break from the rail and will have the riding services of Jockey Rocco Bowen.
