It’s that time of the year when the babies get to stretch their legs and we have two of them going to post on Wednesday at Thistledown. Carrying the banner of HMDC, Taste of Victory and TBC Racing will be 2-year-old gelded sons of the late state champion sire Dominus. With 2-year-olds now ready to run the races were overfilled and they will run in separate races for the boys – both maiden races at 6 furlongs for accredited Ohio-breds carrying a top purse of $33,900.

This can be a quick learning curve for the babies facing real competition in the afternoons and let’s hope and let’s hope Slingshot has learned how to behave. The Justin Radosevich trainee came wound up and ready to run in his debut, a

little too wound up, when he got to the gate. Despite his fractious pre-race to the pace of the leaders. He could have used the energy spent in his pre-race antics in mid-stretch as he faded to 5th. A sneaky-good performance by the HMDC Racing Stables homebred.

Don’t Doubt Me will be making his career debut in the first race of the day. The son of Dominus-Vienna’s Waltz-Freud was bred by Smokin C LLC. He comes into the race off a series of slow deliberate works –let’s hope he’s been saving his speed for the afternoon. Conditioner Justin Radosevich will give a leg up to Jose Bracho and they will break from lucky post position #7.
