SPUN IN DOMINUS STUCK IN TRAFFIC IN $75,000 EMERALD NECKLACE –DRIVES TO A STAKES-PLACED EFFORT

An outside post position and forced lane changing late in the lane may have cost the top spot for Spun in Dominus as our juvenile filly settled for a game second place in the $75,000 Emerald Necklace Stakes for Accredited-breds on October 9. The HMDC, Taste of Victory and TBC Racing’s miss came within a length of the winner at the wire.
Breaking from post 9, jockey David Haldar vied for a good position early, much to his dismay, so did at least five other starters and after a quarter mile, barely 2 lengths separated the calvary charge. traveling widest of all, Spun in Dominus made a strong move around the turn, picking off all but one in the field as they straightened in the lane. Reacting to a right hand whip, leader Dynamic Vision headed to the rail and Haldar had a straight shot for his final rally. The jock on the leader switched sticks and his mount reacted by moving several paths outside, forcing Spun in Dominus to dive down to the rail settling for the second spot.
Haldar cried foul, but his assessment of the situation did not match that of the stewards at Thistledown and the order of finish stood. The Megan Fadlovich trainee was making only her third lifetime start and her stakes-placing moved
her earning to $36,696.
The action now moves to Mahoning Valley and as you can see, several opportunities are available to increase the stable’s bankroll in the weeks ahead.
