“LUST FOR LIFE IS SCREAMING OUT FOR ROOM”

Those aren’t my words, they were the words of Thistledown track announcer Matt Hook being bellowed out as Lust for Life was full of run with nowhere to go through the stretch in the $75,000 Mike Rowland Memorial on Derby Day. Jockey Jan Aviles was in the saddle after being aboard Lust for Life for 3 of his 4 wins. After the break in the 6-furlong test for Accredited-breds. Aviles tracked the top three while staying closer to the rail, as he was lapped on the turn. The pace began to melt quickly in midstretch as Lust for Life was in full stride, Aviles had to tap the brakes and work his way out quickly to rally again for the third spot.Takeaways from the race are that trainer Mike Rone has Lust for Life ready to roll during his 2025 campaign, Lust for Life can run rain or shine as his strong finish was over a sloppy track and that effort pushed the eight-time starter over the $100,000 mark.

selections “OK – if you stuffed a wad of money in my hand and a gun to my head, I’ll be keying in on Journalism/Sovereignty on top of Sandman, Burnham Square, East Avenue and Baeza. Yes, there are others that have a shot – but that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.”
