HMDC starts the July 4th Holiday Week with a Bang!

Updated: Aug 6

Our partnership started 4th of July week with a boom! Our 2-year-old Fortheloveofbonnie won impressively in her debut on July 1 at Thistledown. Trained by Megan Fadlovich, she had the gray daughter of Cowtown Cat tuned to the minute for the five-furlong sprint. Under David Haldar, she rated well in the early part of the race and according to the Daily Racing Form, “…finished full of run under mild left-handed urging to win going away.” Fortheloveofbonnie finished 4 ½ lengths ahead on the odds-on favorite.

Handicappers obviously overlooked her pedigree and she returned $31.20 for the win. Had the punters looked closely they would have seen she is a ½ sister to the speedy Special Reserve. A winner of $789,746, he captured the Grade3 Maryland Sprint, was econd in the Grade 3 Keeneland Commonwealth, then won the Iowa Sprint, just missed in the A.G. Vanderbilt (beating Whitmore), came back to win the Grade 2 Phoenix at Keeneland and finished the season finishing 4th by 2 ½ lengths in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint. During this period he recorded four straight 100 Beyer speed figures.

Special Reserve’s lil’ sister is off and sprinting. HMDC couldn’t be more pleased with the way Forloveofbonnie has started her 2-year-old season.

STAY TUNED!

HMDC believes the fireworks has just started and there may be more to light up the sky. On Wednesday, two of our runners are set to match strides while making their career debuts in the fourth race. The duo are trained by Mike Rone and both are sons of Duncan Farms sire Mobil.

On the 4th of July, our 3-year-old filly Countess Colette will try to make her record a perfect 2 for 2. In January, the Megan Fadlovich trainee pulled away to win by four lengths in her first career start at Mahoning. Don’t be late, she goes to post in the first race of the day at Thistledown, a $35,000 allowance test. All of horses we are sending to post this week were bred by Mapleton Farm.
