Let’s take care of the baby first. There is no better feeling than laying out a plan, being patient for at least two years, trusting your investment in the hands of selected professionals and – BOOM - watch that plan succeed the very first time you put it to a test. HMDC and partners Taste of Victory Stable and TBC Racing watched Gray Perfection bring that feeling to life on August 6, when she put in a gutsy performance to win her career debut.

Ridden by Jan Aviles, Gray Perfection broke straight and was quickly in stride in the $38,900 5 1⁄2 furlong maiden event for Registered Ohio Breds. She caught the favored pacesetter and led by the time they hit the quarter pole. She continued on steadily and held off her challenger by a neck. “She’s a nice filly,” stated trainer Mike Rone. “She’s a big ol’ stout filly, doesn’t look like a lot of Ohio-breds. She’s done nothing wrong, came out of the Carolinas ready and she dug down today. Some got it, some don’t.” As for future plans, the soft-spoken Rone said, “We’ll let the horse do the talking.”

Gray Perfection is a daughter of Creative Cause-Alpine Echo-Swiss Yodeler and was bred by Huntertown Farm. All but one in the field of eight were first-time starters. She collected $20,340 for her effort. Patience pays...and welcome to the team TBC Racing!
