In eight lifetime starts, Countess Colette has never been off the board. Last Tuesday she added another one to the win column. “Countess” was making her return to the races after she was last seen finishing second in the $75,000 Bobby Bricker Memorial at Mahoning in in December. She was sent away as the slight favorite in a field abbreviated by race day scratches. Rider Anthony Nunez let the early leaders go on in the $32,000 six-furlong affair where they raced with a $50,000 tag. He positioned himself high in the saddle as “Countess” appeared to pick up the pace on her own. They swept around the leaders on the turn and pulled away through the lane with Nunez wrapping up late to save some for her next start. Trainer Megan Fadlovich put the now 4-year-old daughter of Medal Count through a methodical series of works to get her back fit for this effort. “Countess” collected $20,800 in her return to action and now sports a record of 8-3-4-1 for earnings of $99,740.
