SPUN IN DOMINUS STARTS BUSY WEEK OFF ON THE RIGHT HOOF

Spun in Dominus started our week off with a determined win for trainer Megan Fadlovich and jockey Rocco Bowen.
Spun in Dominus started our week off with a determined win for trainer Megan Fadlovich and jockey Rocco Bowen.

Spun in Dominus got back to his winning ways on Monday to start the stable’s week off with a game win. HMDC and partners will have plenty of action in the starting gate at Thistledown, with four of our colorbearers going to post in three days!

On Monday, Spun in Dominus broke crisply under Rocco Bowen and led the field for the first 100 yards, letting two challengers, hell bent for the front, go ahead on the inside of him. Entering the turn, Bowen began pursuit of the top two and passed them with authority with the son of Duncan Farm’s multiple champion Ohio stallion Dominus. Under a strong ride, Spun in Dominus had to dig down to hold off a challenger to win by a neck, it was four lengths back to the third spot.

The Megan Fadlovich trainee was making her second start of the season in this $35,800 allowance sprint for non-winners of two races. As a 3-year-old, she was allowed to race successfully on Lasix for the first time, a medication not permitted in her seasonal debut – the $75,000 Southern Park Stakes, resulting in a 8th place finish (don’t let me get on my soap box). The Mapleton-bred miss races for HMDC, Taste of Victory and TBC racing.

Two of our runners go to post on Tuesday. First up is I Belong First in the opener, a $50,000 claiming test at six furlongs offering a $32,000 purse. The 4-year-old had a wake up call in her first effort for trainer Justin Radosevich, missing the top spot by a half-length in a gutsy effort. The conditions of Tuesday’s race are the same as her impressive seasonal debut. Jose Bracho will be back for the return mount aboard the filly who races for HMDC and Taste of Victory.

Racing for the same partnership in Tuesday’s eighth race, Commissioner D. will be sprinting 5 1⁄2 furlongs in an accredited-bred race that carries a $16,000 tag. The 5-year-old will be taking a move up in class after an eventful outing that saw her bounced about during the running. Mauro Cedillo will be back aboard for conditioner Megan Fadlovich.

The action for our partnership continues through Wednesday when Rogues a Plotting heads to post in the opener. Carded as a $32,000 6 furlongs event for accredited Ohio-breds, the field of eight are in search of their third lifetime victory. If you like what you see, you can take one home for $50,000. Coming out of the Mike Rone barn, the 3-year-old son of Dominus will be looking for his third win in his sixth lifetime start. Racing for HMDC, Taste of Victory and TBC Racing, regular rider Luis Rivera will be in the irons. Rone may be doing a rain dance Tuesday night as both of Rogues a Plotting’s wins have come over “off” tracks.
