LOFTY COWTOWN BACK ON HER HOME TRACKMEETS PLENTY OF FAMILIAR COMPANY

“Lofty Cowtown hopes to get back to her winning ways on Wednesday vs. frequent foes.”
“Lofty Cowtown hopes to get back to her winning ways on Wednesday vs. frequent foes.”

A real stable stalwart will head to post on Wednesday as Lofty Cowtown heads to post in Thistledown’s seventh race, a hefty $75,000 claiming event at six furlongs. Now a 6-year-old mare, the Mapleton-bred has been campaigned throughout her career by HMDC and Taste of Victory Stables and trained by Megan Fadlovich.

The daughter of former Ohio Stallion of the Year Cowtown Cat has been a product of patience, earning $208,788 over a 23-start career. She started twice as a 2-year-old failing to hit the board and was returned to the farm to grow into her frame. Good call. After 10 months she returned to racing and reeled off three consecutive wins onto a stakes-placing in the Ms. Southern Ohio on the grass at Belterra Park.

After six months of freshening, “Lofty” returned to the races and gave trainer Megan Fadlovich her first stakes win in the Dr. T.F. Classen Stakes at Thistledown. She has been a warrior ever since, matching strides mostly with allowance foes and running second in the ’25 edition of the Classen. She has shown an affinity for the Thistledown strip with 5 of her 6 career victories taking place there – all but one of her five wins came at six furlongs.

If you are sound enough to race into your 6-year-old season you will meet a lot of familiar competition along the way – as is the case on Wednesday. Her main rivals of late are one of those damn Mapleton-breds in Authoritarian Gal ($233,115), and Kitchi Kitsu ($335,400) both will be in the starting gate on Wednesday. “Lofty” and those in this high-end claiming event are testimony to the ability of Accredited-breds, who when handled patiently, can have long and profitable careers.
