LOFTY COWTOWN AND I BELONG FIRST WILL CARRY THE TORCH FOR HMDC AND TASTE OF VICTORY THIS WEEK

Fresh off a week where the stable unveiled two promising stars in 3-year-olds, Rogues a Plotting and Dr. Spirito – it’s time for the older ladies to step up! Stakes-winner and stakes-placed Lofty Cowtown plans to pass the $200,000 earnings mark and I Belong First will face the softest field of her career at Mahoning Valley.

“Lofty” will head to post on Tuesday in the 7th race and will tackle open Allowance company at a mile with a $26,400 purse on the line. Yes, you most often face tougher company in these races – BUT – due to the Ohio Fund Program, there is $15,000 added to purse for Buckeye-breds only. There is risk, but reward, for a quality state-bred. This Megan Fadlovich trainee has more than earned her daily oats and sports a record of 20-6-3-3 for earnings of $199,452. Jockey Mauro Cedillo has the call.

The second Mapleton-bred by Duncan Farm’s champion stallion Cowtown Cat to go to post this week is I Belong First. Now a 4-year-old, she’ll get a chance to reward her frequent backers with a serious drop in class. A striking filly to look at, it took her three races to figure it all out and then recorded back-to -back wins at Thistledown. She has been favored in over half of her seven lifetime starts. On Friday, in the fifth race, a $19,500 6 furlong dash for a $10,000 claiming price she will face nine registered Ohio-breds. Conditioner Megan Fadlovich will give a leg up to Rocco Bowen.
